Hurricane Isaias is heading for the Gulf Coast, and while Middle Tennessee won’t experience the full force of the hurricane, our area could still see strong winds, heavy rain, and storm damage this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, the remnants of Hurricane Isaias could bring wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph and 1 to 3 inches of rain to Middle Tennessee. The heaviest rain is expected Saturday and Saturday night.

For homeowners, that means it’s time to prepare for the possibility of fallen trees, broken limbs, and property damage. If you’re left with fallen trees or limbs after the storm, Arbor Best Tree Care is here to help.
How Hurricane Isaias Could Affect Trees in Middle Tennessee
Wind gusts reaching 40 mph can cause significant problems, especially for trees that are already weak, damaged, or diseased.
With heavy rain saturating the soil, trees with shallow or damaged roots are also more likely to fall.
Potential damage from this storm includes:
- Fallen trees blocking driveways, roads, or access to homes.
- Broken branches damaging roofs, vehicles, fences, and other structures.
- Uprooted trees caused by strong winds and saturated soil.
- Power outages from trees or limbs falling onto power lines.
Even healthy trees can suffer damage during severe weather. Take a few minutes to look for dead branches, leaning trunks, or other visible warning signs before the storm arrives. If it is safe to do so, remove dead branches and clear objects like patio furniture that could be damaged by falling trees, limbs, and debris.
When bad weather strikes, stay away from trees that appear unstable.
